Animal Portraits from Photographs

Participants begin with a series of drawing exercises designed to help everyone loosen up and feel comfortable drawing together. They then create sketches of a variety of animals from photographs in a fun and informative group setting.

With guidance, each participant explores how to capture an animal’s likeness, measure and consider proportion, and retain their own individual artistic style. The workshop is suitable for all abilities.

For the remainder of the session, everyone chooses one image to work from. This can be a photograph brought from home, and the focus is on capturing the animal’s likeness while keeping the drawing in proportion and maintaining its character. The course is limited to a maximum of six people.
